Međugorje

Medjugorje is located in the mountains between Mostar and Croatia. The small town is incredibly popular with Catholic pilgrims - millions of pilgrims have visited the site since 1981, when a small group of young people in the village began reporting seeing visions of the Virgin Mary on a nearby hillside. The present parish was founded in 1892 and dedicated to St. James the Apostle, protector of pilgrims.

Until June 24, 1981, Medugorje lived like all other villages of this region: people worked on their land, planted tobacco and vineyards, produced wine and vegetables to acquire just enough for a modest life for their families. From that day onwards the little parish of Medjugorje become a place of prayer and pilgrimage for Catholics form all around the world. Thanks to Our Lady’s apparitions, Medjugorje became a place of reconciliation, which is especially experienced in the sacrament of Holy Confession.

Medjugorje

Medjugorje ("between the hills") has become well known in Bosnia-Hercegovina, and the world, because of six young people who claim to have seen visions of the Madonna. Beginning on June 24, 1981, the Blessed Mother appeared to, and later told the visionaries God sent her to our world to help us convert our hearts and lives back to Him. Our Lady's call is one of Peace, Love, Faith, Conversion, Prayer, and Fasting.
