Klek Croatia
Klek is a small coastal place situated in the beautiful bay at the main road between
Split and
Dubrovnik. It is located in the district Slivno, in
Dubrovnik-Neretva county, right by the border of the
Republic of Croatia with Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was once a part of the famous
Republic of Dubrovnik,
and today it has about 200 inhabitants, who are engaged in raising
various kinds of fruits and vegetables, fishing and tourism.
Traffic connectionKlek is situated on the main road by the Dalmatia coastline, it is
70 km far from
Dubrovnik and it has an ideal location for one-day trips. Among tourist destinations we recommend
Ston,
Mljet,
Korčula,
Makarska (70 km) and
Split (130 km) and in the neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina
Međugorje (50 km),
Mostar and
Sarajevo.
Nearby are the following cities:
Opuzen (10

Herzegovina) where you are provided with hypermarkets, many restaurants,
inns, butcher's shops and fishmonger's, banks and everything else
needed for the unforgettable holidays. The nearest

Klek Beach
Tourist offerSurrounded by centuries-old olive trees, oleanders and other
Mediterranean plants,
Klek is the ideal destination for a quiet and pleasant stay for groups of people, couples and families. Big
pebble beach is
stretched throughout the length of the place. The beach is arranged and
visitors are offered the posibility of hiring jet-skis, pedal boats,
parasols, deck chairs and bikes. Not far from there are the places with
beautiful beaches like
Duboka,
Repić,
Radalj and
Komarna.
South of Klek is Mornačna, little sandy beach and a small bay with the intact nature and olive-groves.
Aside from the private renters you can find accommodation in two smaller
hotels. A few
restaurants,
coffee bars, a pastry shop, a pizzeria, two minimarkets, a clinic, a
post-office, an exchange office, the newsagent's and stalls with fresh
fruits and vegetables are also at your service.
Klek has also the art gallery "
Stećak".
Long and illuminated promenade by the sea,
Lungo Mare, connects Klek with Radalj and it is especially crowded in the evening.
Sport and recreational offer
Aside from bathing and water recreation tourists have access to four
tennis courts, a miniature golf course, a table tennis court, a bowling court as well as the
children playground. There is a big parking place in the centre of the place, in the shadow of the
olive trees.
Kula Nonkovic
The whole-day trips with the wooden ship "
Lipa moja" are organised from the place to
Mali Ston as well as to the mouth of the
river Neretva and to the
Pelješac Peninsula. By driving in the traditional boat of
Neretva you can enjoy the beauty and the charms of the Neretva valley in close vicinity through
photo-safari.
To mountaineering and nature lovers we recommend walking to the hill above Klek, where they can next to the sage and other
Mediterranean plants sense the sweet smells of
